Ranger Scholarship Fund
FHAF has a desire to give educational scholarships for certain uncovered expenses that are typical for families of the fallen. This would include clothing, travel, some personal expenses, etc. However, we are not willing to absorb the overhead (cost) of being in the “scholarship business.” This would include developing and maintaining a board that generates an application process, qualifies the applicant’s history, and objectively and/or subjectively awards money based on merit and family military service. This is simply not our lane.
However, on a test basis FHAF joined with the Ranger Scholarship Fund. This group was willing to team up with FHAF to establish a Freedom Has A Face Scholarship grant. They handle all of the application vetting and award process. They also have agreed that 100% of the money we contribute goes to the scholarship recipients (no admin fee). Because these students are also given other traditional forms of survivor scholarships they recommended that we limit our scholarships to $1,000 each so more students can benefit having non-traditional expenses covered.
Thus, the FHAF Scholarship Fund granted 5 scholarships for $1,000 each to an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited college or post secondary vocational or technical institute pursuing a degree or certification completion. For a full list of qualifications go to: http://www.rangersscholarshipfund.org. The recipients receive an award letter that designates FHAF has sponsored their scholarship. By our choice, all scholarships are named after a Ranger killed in combat. These FHAF Scholarship Fund grants are physically awarded during the annual Ranger Rendezvous event where FHAF is part of the ceremony.
